As inconvenient as it may be to call this symptom " death throes, " this is the correct description. Final stage wet breathing is the medical term for saliva and mucus that builds up in the airways when a person becomes too weak to expel secretions.

The accumulation of mucus and fluid causes a rattling sound when the person breathes. This can annoy family and friends who hear you. But in most cases, the patient does not feel pain or suffering.

When someone nears the end of their life, they experience many symptoms. Pain, shortness of breath, anxiety, incontinence, constipation, delirium, and anxiety are just a few signs that a loved one is going through the dying process.
