Ejaculation and male fertility

  Articles

Ejaculation is a typical climax for men during sexual self-stimulation or partner play. How it happens, what sperm is made of, and how it is produced are frequently asked questions. Get the facts about ejaculation.

Production and composition

Ejaculation occurs when semen is released from the penis, usually during orgasm . However, before this happens, a small amount of precum is usually released. This precum, also called precum, drips from the head of your penis when you are aroused .

It consists of one or two drops of alkaline fluid from Cooper's glands (two small glands below the prostate) . Its alkalinity neutralizes the acidity that remains in the urethra after a recent urination .

After the appearance of the precum, this final orgasmic explosion marks the final stage of male sexual arousal. While not all erections necessarily lead to ejaculation, when it does, semen exits the urethra first in one source and then eventually decreases in volume .

Sixty-five percent of the semen present during ejaculation comes from the seminal vesicles . Thirty-five percent comes from the prostate, which gives semen its distinctive odor. Five percent of your ejaculation is made up of other bodily fluids .

The milky opalescence of ejaculation, also known as semen, is created by the sperm contained in the semen. Clouding tends to increase with increasing sperm concentration (in terms of sperm count).

Ejaculation

Although the word "ejaculate" can be used as a noun, it is also a verb with which semen is ejaculated (expelling semen through the urethra with powerful muscle contractions.

When you have an orgasm, you ejaculate an average of 2 to 3 ml of semen, about a small teaspoon.

Some men can ejaculate up to a meter or more. However, do not worry if you feel that your own ejaculation does not reach that distance. The average distance an ejaculate can travel is 7 to 10 inches (17 to 25 centimeters) .

Multiple orgasms

Multiple orgasms are less common in men than women. The ability to rejaculate varies greatly from man to man and begins to decline almost immediately after puberty ends. Most men will only have one ejaculation in an hour or two .

Some may have a second ejaculation during those two hours and, in rare cases, three or four. Alfred Kinsey, a renowned sex researcher, recorded a man who was able to ejaculate six to eight times in a single session, but this is very rare .

Fertility

The volume and distance of ejaculation have nothing to do with your ability to fertilize your partner. In fact , you can achieve conception using only a small portion of sperm. This is the reason why the interruption of intercourse ( rejection of orgasm ) can lead to pregnancy .

Generally speaking, sperm count below 39 million per ejaculation or 15 million per milliliter will reduce the chances of a successful conception.

A low sperm count does not mean that your partner will not get pregnant or that there is no additional remedy to improve your chances. If you are struggling with fertility , the semen analysis will show if any aspect of your semen could be a contributing factor.
