  Articles

We bought a Quip electric toothbrush for our reviewer to try. Read on to see our full product review.

If you are striving for optimal oral health , you may have noticed that the oral hygiene industry has become remarkably competitive. This includes electric toothbrushes, which tend to outperform their manual counterparts in keeping teeth clean and white , as well as trendy floss, high-quality toothpaste , and subscription restocking services. Quip is one of several toothbrush brands that offer all of the above.

So how does the Quip electric toothbrush work when tested? What about the rest of the Quip family? To understand this, I tested this product every day for several months and evaluated its most important features, from design to total cost. Here's a detailed description of the subscription toothbrush, including all its features and refill options.

Design: elegant and compact

The Quip Electric Toothbrush has a sleek and compact design. Unlike many battery-operated toothbrushes, this slim product is about the size of a manual toothbrush . This toothbrush is approximately 7.5 inches long and almost half an inch in diameter. This almost attractive product definitely has an interesting factor. While this is generally not at the top of the list of qualities for a toothbrush, I must admit that it is a bonus for me.

The replaceable brush head can be removed by pulling it while applying light pressure to the seam. The included AAA battery is located inside the toothbrush. As with most toothbrushes, the Quip heads need to be replaced every three months, which is roughly the battery life.

The Quip toothbrush comes with a long plastic cap that protects the brush head and acts as a stand. It has a sticky strip that should stick to a wall or mirror for storage at home, but mine kept falling off. However, the lid can be flipped over on a flat surface for storage on a countertop in an upright position.

The flossing tool is also stylish and compact in design. It's basically a reusable floss dispenser with a retractable lid that opens and closes with the push of your thumb.

Material: high quality and light weight.

Quip toothbrushes come with plastic or metal handles. Plastic color options include green and blue; Metal color options include silver, lead (dark gray), copper (rose gold), and gold. Quip also makes baby toothbrushes with small heads and handles in purple, green, pink, or blue.

The brush head has smooth, homogeneous bristles that are gentle on my gums.

Made of plastic, the white brush heads with smooth, even nylon bristles are gentle on my gums. Tools for cleaning teeth are the same as toothbrushes: they are made of plastic or metal of the appropriate color.

According to the manufacturer, the peppermint toothpaste is a fluoride formula approved by the American Dental Association (ADA). Quip also has a watermelon-flavored children's toothpaste.

Performance: Approved Dental Hygienist

This product is very effective for brushing your teeth. Although the Quip toothbrush only has one brushing speed, I think that's all you need. When turned on, it works for two minutes, with a light pulse every 30 seconds, notifying you when to move to another area of the mouth.

Even though the toothbrush only has one brushing speed, I think that's all it takes.

When I first used it, I honestly thought, "It was really nice!" In my opinion, it is a key component of dental health. When I enjoy brushing my teeth , I probably do it first. During a recent visit to the dentist , my hygienist was very satisfied with the condition of my teeth, which in turn made me very happy.

Pass: oral hygiene straight to your door

Quip's subscription service, which starts at $ 5 and includes shipping, is convenient. Every three months, you can automatically receive a replacement head and battery with the option to add toothpaste and / or dental floss. Full-size toothpaste lasts for three months if you use the dentist's recommended pea-size amount twice a day; The trip is designed for two weeks. Each of these items is also available for one-time purchase without a refill plan.

Other subscription toothbrush brands include Boie , Goby , and Shyn . Boie makes manual toothbrushes and ships two, three, or four replacements a year for $ 5 each to subscribers. Electric toothbrush company Goby has replacement heads available for $ 6 each, every two to three months. A subscription to Shyn gives you a replacement electric toothbrush head for $ 4.99 every two to three months.

Each Quip item is also available as a one-time purchase without a refill plan.

Price: A decent dental treatment.

Toothbrushes cost between $ 25 and $ 55. The least expensive models are made of plastic, while the most expensive ones are made of metal. You can buy a custom toothbrush or get a starter kit. Starter kits, which include a reusable toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss, range from $ 45 to $ 80 plus $ 10 shipping.

When refilled, toothpaste and floss are quite expensive. With a subscription, they cost $ 5 for a three-month supply, which is relatively expensive compared to most toothpaste and floss products on the market.

Competition: many options, but no exact matches

Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush: The Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush costs around $ 80 (see on Amazon ). Like Quip, it runs for two minutes, but instead of a replaceable battery, it plugs into the wall and recharges.

Oral-B Pro 1000 Power rechargeable electric toothbrush. Priced at about $ 50, the Pro 1000 Power Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush has a round rotating brush head (see on Amazon ). Like the Philips model, it is powered by a charger and has a pressure sensor that will stop movement if you rub too hard.

Fairywill Electric Toothbrush: The ADA certified Fairywill Electric Toothbrush costs around $ 30 (see on Amazon ). It has a relatively slim design, but not as slim as the Quip. Fairywill features a silent toothbrush with five different brushing modes.
